1st Team

Geraint Price:

Hello I’m Geraint Price and I’m going to be the first team manager this coming season. Having had a slow start with DMUFC due to a 4 month stay on the side-lines from a torn ankle ligament, I managed to bounce back just in time for our incredible Varsity win in my first year at the Kingpower Stadium. I then managed the first team last season alongside Joe Taylor and with a brand new team we gained success coming 3rd in the league and winning Varsity in the Kingpower yet again and beating the scum all 3 times.

With the experience I have gained by playing with both professional and semi-professional clubs, by gaining my level 2 coaching badge and the experience I have from managing the team last year I believe I will be able to carry on the success with DMUFC that we’ve had over the past 2 years. So make sure all you Freshers come to trials as there are plenty of spaces up for grabs in this year’s first team with a number of players having graduated last year. Feel free to drop me a message on facebook or email: geraintprice07@gmail.com if you have any questions.

It’s a great society to join (the best and most popular in the university) as we take our football very seriously but also taking our drinking seriously with a social every Wednesday after matches where it does end up getting rather messy at times… I welcome you all to DMUFC for the 2013/2014 season. OH DMU, IS WONDERFUL……

Interesting fact:  Scored a bullet header on my debut for DMU and did a backflip for a celebration and got dick of the day for it….. but haven’t scored since!

Player I most resemble:  Phil Jones as I love a last ditch tackle and got tekkers for fun (love a cross field ping)

2nd Team

James Shirley:

Hi I’m James Shirley and I will be the manager of the DMUFC second team for the 2013/14 season. Last year the second team had a great season winning both the league and varsity, and this year I hope we can do just as well. I was a fresher last year and was so happy I joined the football team. Although my team didn’t have the best results we always had a good time. I am a FA qualified coach and have experience coaching youth teams and running summer camps. I advise all freshers to join football this season as you are guaranteed to have a good time both on and off the pitch!

INTERESTING FACT: Was Linesman at a match at QPR’s Loftus Road Stadium where owner Tony Fernandes missed 3 penalties.

PLAYER I MOST RESEMBLE: A better looking and more healthy Darren Fletcher

Manager(s): Rob Howard

3rd Team

Rob Howard:

Hi, I’m Rob Howard and I’ll be in charge of the DMUFC third team this year. The sharks are close to my heart having played for them last year, although the season didn’t go so well. Now, as gaffer I want to guide the side to promotion and varsity success by creating a winning team that plays an attractive style of football. But at the end of the day, I want it to be enjoyable and hope to create a great atmosphere and bond within the side. Joining DMUFC was the best thing I’ve done during my 2 years in Leicester and I can’t recommend the club highly enough! Whether you play football or not, our Wednesday night drinking games are legendary so come along and join the biggest society at DMU! It should be another great year.

INTERESTING FACT: In my first ever proper game of football, I scored 6 goals for the mighty Arlesey Town under 7’s. My goal ratio has decreased ever since!

PLAYER I MOST RESEMBLE: I’d say Dimitar Berbatov from my days as a striker. Lazy with no pace whatsoever, but capable of scoring the odd beauty! Playing a bit deeper these days though, in the cultured Rui Costa/Riquelme role."

Cam Robinson:

Hello there! My name is Cam Robinson and along with Mr. Stacey, I'll be your 4th team manager. I'm beginning my 3rd year at DMU and can honestly say after only joining football last year it was one of the best years of my life. No matter your level of ability I urge any of you with an interest in football and/or alcohol to come along to training and socials as you won't regret it! If you ask nicely I may even show you my third nipple. The aim this year is to win our league, of course win our Varisty and have a solid cup run. I look forward to coaching you all to become better than Messi this year* and hope to make it as memorable as my time with DMUFC has been so far. 1..2..3..PANDAS!

*Results may vary

INTERESTING FACT: Once met Lenny Henry as we sat at the beach together.

PLAYER I MOST RESEMBLE: Ronaldo. Without the skill, shooting, speed, heading, looks or power. I do a decent dive though.

Tom Stacey:

Wassup y’all, I am Mr Stacey and I will be one half of your favourite management team this year. Things I love in life include playing Frisbee at the beach, whipping Mr Cam Robinson at FIFA (it rarely happens... if ever) and pandas. This year I am looking forward to meeting the new recruits to the 4th team (AKA: The Pandas) and enjoying the year we have together. I’m confident in the players that have been a part of the squad this year to carry on their good work and with others graduating, there are many spaces to fill within the team. It will not be easy to break into the team however if you show the right commitment and determination you are more than likely to be given a fair shot at enormous fame and glory in the 4th team. Another point to add is that 4th team training is open to anyone that wishes to come along; all you need to do is buy your active card and make your way down. DMUFC is the biggest club at the university, the 4th team is by far the biggest squad in the club and with that comes one of the finest social lives a university student could ask for. So come along to trials, show us your skills, get an interesting fact about yourself ready and don't forget your black shirt and tie when you make your way down to our Wednesday night socials.

INTERESTING FACT: I once broke a Basketball world record. (I got a certificate and everything!!)

PLAYER I MOST RESEMBLE: Gareth Bale/ John Terry – Apparently I have similar monkey features to bale and I like to dive into tackles like a certain Mr Terry (his off the field antics have nothing on mine though) a terrible kick.
